On one of my other blogs, I was just ranting like psychowoman talking about how hard it is to get everything accomplished and then I logged in here and noticed I haven't posted in almost a month. See? It's impossible to keep up!
Amidst all the home projects and other goings on, I am still hanging on to a tiny shred of my creative mojo though. I managed to add a few new items to my Etsy store.
These I adore! Very simple... crystals and silver. Anything purple makes me happy and Purple Velvet Swarovski's make my heart sing!
I priced this next pair at $17.95 because someone I know expressed interest in them and I do occasionally give a 'friend discount'. Since I'm a very small business I can't buy in bulk or wholesale all the time and have to shop at local stores for my supplies. The rose gold (over copper) crosses on these earrings alone retail for $4 each. I was able to get them on sale but when you add in the other beads and wires, I think the price was very fair. Turns out, she thought they were a little too long for her and didn't buy them. But that's okay, they are still in the shop and still the same price. :)
I've sold assorted pairs of alphabet earrings. At a craft fair this summer someone asked for OMG. I had Peace, Love, Joy, and a couple others with me that day, but no OMG's. Oh, horrors! I hope to one day have a kit with me so I can do up names, initials, or whatever a person might ask for on the spot. I did give the woman my business card and told her to email me for a pair, but you know once someone walks away from your table at a show they are usually never heard from again.
Christmas is my favorite holiday. Our card list is quite long and as I mentioned in my last post, I don't send a handmade one to everyone. I'd like to have some put aside to go with a couple of gifts for local friends/family who we'll be seeing, but don't know if I can get them made in time since I'll need to have some for a couple craft events next month. Maybe if there are leftovers, I can use them! If you are a cardmaker, do you design cards for individual people as you need them, or do you make assorted ones ahead to have onhand and then pick something from the stock as occasions come up?
I try to keep a small supply of memory bracelets around. Since most all of mine are under $10, they are easier to sell at craft events.
Happy Monday! Hope the week is enjoyable for you.
very pretty Mary....love the ones with the crosses...and such a pretty card
ReplyDeleteMary, I LOVE your creations!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, they're some of the most exquisitely made pieces of jewelry I've EVER seen!
Purple Velvet Swarovski's - STUNNING!
And being an OMG person, I adore the OMG earrings!!!
The Christmas card is faaaaaaabulous! Like I shared with you before, your cards are better than any store bought card, hands down!
Happy Monday, my friend!

I have to agree with Ron....I'm an OMG person too!!! Great stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteYour creations are awesome! I never seem to have enough time to create a stash of cards, M. In fact, horror of horrors, I actually had to BUY four Sympathy cards as I just didn't have the time to make them!! I had to get them out in the mail. Too much going in in life especially around the holidays...some days I feel like I would enjoy living in a tent. It certainly would require a lot less maintenance!!
Back years ago, I thought I would try to sell cards. I made up some for all occasions, plus lots of small gift cards and gift tags. They didn't sell and I pretty much used them up or gave them away to be used. These days I make one at a time and lucky to get that done! But I do always have supplies close at hand!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Especially love that first pair of earrings!
Thanks, T. The paper is new and I couldn't resist getting a few sheets!
ReplyDeleteRon, isn't purple fabulous! If I can't ever wear earrings I might have to just glue a few Swarovski's to my ear lobes. Hehe
Hallmark is wonderful, but do they use ribbons and pop dots, I don't think so! ;)
Jeanne, I probably use OMG more than I should, and LOL. OMG, you had to buy sympathy cards. ;) Definitely a horror for a card maker. I know how hard it is to keep up though.
Sharyl, you'de think that people would be overjoyed to buy a handmade card to give or send out. Who wouldn't like to receive that over a mass produced one, right? Yet so many times, at craft fairs, people walk right on by without even looking at them or they'll comment how nice they are and ask if I make them them. When I say yes, they tell me how wonderful they are ... and then walk away. Well, not everyone, some do buy. Alot of people don't send greetings out anymore because it's expensive and the cost of mailing keeps going up. I almost fell over when I mailed a card with the box envelope out recently. Sometimes the post office just wants a little extra postage because they are heavier, which is fine and understandable. But some of the clerks charge a parcel rate for them. That's crazy! It's a greeting card!!
Thanks to all of you for taking the time to stop by and comment. I appreciate it! x
